This painting is from the Series “Dublin in a Bright Light”.

The scene depicted is of a sunny afternoon along the south (Grand) Canal in Dublin city. On my way to the studio one day I caught sight of this man in his fluorescent jacket eating his lunch under a fluorescent green willow tree. This calm moment between modernity and the natural world struck a chord within me, the resonance between nature and humanity here at rest on a sunny afternoon in Dublin City.
