This piece is inspired by the aboriginal paintings or “Dreamings” of the indigenous people of Australia. In their works of art aboriginals imagine the landscape from a birds eye perspective, often depicting watering holes and other geographical markers in their design. This piece is a part of the other conceptual strand of my painting practice which looks to extrapolate upon an idea known as the overview effect a term used to describe the experience astronauts have when they see the Earth from space.
