This painting is part of the Dublin in a bright light series.

I’m always taken back by the view out of the window when the train pulls along the South Dublin strand. Here in this scene the composition reflects a cinematic landscape, the bright horizon framed by the dark window frame, looked out of by the Dublin man. It was my brother who first noticed my landscapes are cinematically composed and this is the first painting where I have deliberately looked to elaborate on that theme
